Six stunning and scenic Bangkok skybars
By Paul Bearer
Skybars, usually found on the top floor of swank downtown hotels, are a favourite haunt for Bangkok’s nightlife crowd. Here are a half-dozen of the city’s best to get you started.
CHAR ROOFTOP BAR: The 26th floor of the Hotel Indigo is given over to the Char Rooftop Bar (one floor above Char, the restaurant). The cocktails are crafted by gifted bartenders, and the laid back vibe, combined with great city views and comfortable seating, make it a supremely hip hangout spot.

RED SKY: It’s not a cheap night out, but if you travel to Red Sky on the 55th floor of the Centara Grand at CentralWorld hotel, the 360° views of Bangkok and its skyline here are superb. Order fine food and great cocktails, or—for an even higher vantage point—you can ascend up a few flights to CRU Champagne Bar, where you really do feel like you’re on top of the world.

ATTITUDE: It’s a bit of a trek to get here but the views from Attitude, located on the 26th floor of the Avani Riverside Bangkok Hotel, are unlike any others in the city—taking in the Asiatique waterfront shopping centre, the length and breadth of the Chao Phraya River, and Bangkok’s glittering skyline in the distance. And despite the name, there’s no “attitude” at this supremely chic but always cheerful rooftop venue. Take the free shuttle boat from the Saphan Taksin pier (at the Saphan Taksin BTS station).

THREE SIXTY: Just as the name indicates, you’ll get a magical 360° view of Bangkok’s riverside skyline from the Three Sixty rooftop bar, which occupies the 31st floor of the Millennium Hilton Bangkok Hotel. The drink list is long—and the drinks very large—and for those who love jazz the ThreeSixty Jazz Lounge makes it a note perfect drink spot.

LEBUA SKY BAR: The prices are as high as the bar itself, but this spot remains one of Bangkok’s most pre-eminent rooftop venues—it was even featured in the movie Hangover 2—and as such the Lebua Sky Bar is almost always busy. The views from this 63rd floor perch are epic, the rooftop’s golden dome is iconic, and for fine dining Sirocco restaurant is located just steps away. In addition, the recently opened Alfresco 64—in cooperation with Chivas Regal—is now officially the world’s highest whiskey bar!
Lebua at State Tower, 1055/42 Silom Rd.
VERTIGO: The appropriately named Vertigo & Moon Bar is located on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel, just above the hotel’s Vertigo Too restaurant. From this dizzying height guests receive outstanding, unobstructed 360° views of the Bangkok skyline and its surroundings. The drink menu includes premium champagnes, exotic cocktails, fine wines, and more—making it definitely worth the splurge. Dress to impress and join the “high” society crowd.
